About Us

QBN-FM96.7 is a licensed community radio station, based in Queanbeyan, NSW. We broadcast 24 hours a day, 7 days a week  Every presenter and production assistant is a volunteer.  We transmit from Mt. Jerrabomberra on 96.7 mhz on the FM band in stereo at 500 watts(35° 22.457' S 149° 12.928' E) has an estimated altitude of 762m. The signal is beamed from the studios in Crawford street in Queanbeyan via an 858.0 mhz stereo transmitter. Our main studio consists of 2 Sennheiser guest mics, one annoucer mic and an Elan Audio  Kestrel - 12 series modular dual channel stereo "on air " mixer.  Most of our music is played on 2 DENON BROADCAST CD PLAYERS. This gives a clear crisp sound and enjoyable listening. What ever your favourite genre of music tastes, be it Classical, Jazz, country or rock.

 

The committee of management consists of seven committee members presenters and non presenters. The President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Presenters Representitve and (2) Ordinary members. Annually the association of QBN inc hold an Annual General Meeting to elect office bearers. The main fuction of the committee is the smooth running and finances of the radio station and being accountable to the members and statutory authorities. The Station manager is resposible for the day to day running of the radio station and troubleshoot  problems as they arise , which could include maintaing on air programming and staffing of volunteers.

New members are always welcome to join QBN association inc. You don't have to be a presenter if you don't want to be as there are many other behind the scene tasks. If you just want to be a member with no other involvement that's ok too.

QBN96.7 plays "The Best of Everything" which is our motto and that means we play a general mixed genre which includes: Classic Pop and Rock from the 60s till today, Traditional and Contemporary Country, Irish Folk, Nostalgia from the 30s to the 50s, Classical Music. On various programs throughout the week we feature interviews artists from home and abroad and feature local identities like Lord mayor Cr Tim Overall on our Monday breakfast program with Bill Motherway

Tune into Deadly Sounds with Rhoda Roberts for your weekly fix of celebrity interviews, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music, World Black tracks and the quirky “On the Spot” with Casey Donovan. Also tune in to catch the “Godfather of Australian Hip Hop” Munkimuk as he hosts Hip Hop Drop – a new segment highlighting all the up-and-coming talent in the Indigenous hip hop scene from around the country.


Tune in on Fridays 7pm – 9pm Italian In Onpa Domenico Barslaro, Loretts & FrancoRosen – Italian Music Mix and 9pm – 12am Kiwi Time Kia Ora with David & Juanita – New Zealand Music Mix

On Saturday tune in at 3pm – 6pm Saturdays for the Macedonian Community Show with Rosa – which includes Macedonian News & Music Mix .

QBN FM frequently have outside broadcasts and they include the 2010 RSPCA million Paws walk, The ANZAC DAY March ceremony, The Transport Vehicle Field Day on Sutton road and the 4WD show at the Queanbeyan showground. The Karabar Supa IGA shopping centre and the local school's breakfast program. The very successful Queanbeyan regatta Day and The Queanbeyan Show.

The Murrumbateman Festival in October 16th and 17th which is a Saturday and Sunday listen to live crosses to the studio throughout the weekend.

We welcome anybody who can assist with these broadcast no job is too small. Things like transporting equiptment, setting up and dismantling, catering, information officers and presenters.
